Mysore, located in the state of Karnataka, India, can be reached by air, train, and road. Here are the details for each mode of transportation:

By Air:

The nearest airport to Mysore is the Mysore Airport (also known as Mandakalli Airport), which is approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from the city center. However, this airport has limited connectivity, and flights are not as frequent as those at other major airports in Karnataka. You can consider flying into one of the following major airports and then taking a road or train journey to Mysore:

  1. Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore (BLR): This is the nearest major international airport, located about 170 kilometers (105 miles) from Mysore. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Mysore.
  2. Coimbatore International Airport (CJB): Coimbatore Airport is around 200 kilometers (124 miles) away from Mysore. You can reach Mysore from Coimbatore by road or train.

 

By Train:

Mysore has a well-connected railway station, known as Mysuru Junction (MYS), which is connected to various cities in India. Some of the major cities with direct train services to Mysore include Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. You can check the Indian Railways website or a reliable travel app for train schedules and ticket availability.

By Road:

Mysore is well-connected by road to various cities in Karnataka and neighboring states. You can reach Mysore by road through the following ways:

  1. From Bangalore: Mysore is approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) from Bangalore. You can take National Highway 275 (NH275) or State Highway 17 (SH17) for a scenic drive from Bangalore to Mysore. The journey takes around 3-4 hours by road.

  2. From Chennai: Mysore is about 480 kilometers (298 miles) from Chennai. You can take National Highway 48 (NH48) for the road trip, and the journey typically takes around 8-10 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.

  3. From Coimbatore: If you are coming from Coimbatore, the distance to Mysore is approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles). You can take National Highway 181 (NH181) for the journey.

  4. From other nearby cities: Mysore is also accessible by road from other nearby cities in Karnataka, such as Mangalore, Ooty, and Hassan.
